The idea of four seasons in a 12 month period is universally accepted by a majority of people. Yes things are changing, and there’s a shift in frequency and timeframes that really can’t be denied. Ask any primary producer.

At the brewery, we tend to revolve around the season of Harvests (grain, hops, fruits, Coolship conditions etc). Each of these is intrinsically linked to the natural environment surrounding our farm brewery.

March is always Hop season, specifically hop harvest. That one moment of the year were we really get to indulge in the full aromatic qualities of this exceptional crop. Brewing with wet hops has its quirks, inefficiencies and adaption of equipment for utilising the freshly hand picked cones.

Nonetheless, it’s a brewers heaven. And something that consistently stokes a brewers creative juices and passion for the product we all lovingly produce on a daily basis.

Each year we relish the opportunity to throw open our doors to the local community, beer lovers, newbies and those genuinely interested and engaged about where there food/beverages originate.

This year, we’ll be hand picking all our hops on Sunday 15th March, starting from 9am. We get this done in a single day each year, and we’d love your help! We’d love as many helping hands as we can.

Please bring a long sleeve shirt, a hat and something to sit on. Children are more than welcome to attend, but we request that no pets assist with the picking. Depending on numbers, we hope to complete picking in 4 - 5 hours (you don’t have to stay for the whole thing). A small lunch will be provided along with beverage refreshments, but you may want to brings some snacks, especially for the little ones.

Cheers, Will 👊
